Directors Note

This two-week summer intensive was an ambitious, full-scale process that began with auditions and culminated in a three-performance ticketed run. The experience was equal parts joyful, chaotic, and deeply rewarding—an impressive feat for everyone involved.

Serving as director, lighting designer, choreographer, and stage manager, I was fully immersed in every aspect of the production. It’s the kind of project you look back on with a mix of pride and disbelief, wondering how it all came together—but knowing it did because of the dedication and collaboration of the entire team.

Godspell remains a particularly cherished memory, largely because of the students who brought it to life. Their creativity and ownership of the material shaped the production in meaningful ways—from crafting memorable parables to even writing and performing an original song that closed the show after bows. It was a powerful reminder of what can happen when young artists are given the space to create, contribute, and shine. They built a truly beautiful show.
