Directors Note

History Has Its Eyes on You is a revue of historical musicals spanning the curriculum of the Cambridge School, created as part of a two-week summer intensive arranged by Carolyn McClaskey and myself.

Drawing from works like Hadestown (exploring the world of ancient Greece), The Prince of Egypt (ancient Egypt), and Hamilton and Newsies (the formation of the United States), the production weaves together stories from across time. Through these pieces, we invited students to consider not only the events of history, but the voices behind them—asking what stories we choose to tell, whose perspectives we uplift, and how we each want to play a role in shaping history ourselves.

Incredible

Many of these students had never participated in theatre before, yet they continually amazed us with their dedication, thoughtfulness, and willingness to fully embrace the process. They approached each challenge with curiosity and courage, bringing both heart and creativity into the room every day.

This group stood out as an especially committed and imaginative ensemble, elevating what began as a small but mighty program into something truly remarkable. Together, they pushed the work to new heights and created a collaborative spirit that defined the entire experience.
